About this product

Milka Alpine milk chocolate with a light yogurt cream inside, so each square tastes a little fresher and less sweet than a plain milk bar.

Milka Yogurt is a filled bar. A thin layer of Alpine milk chocolate wraps around a soft white cream made with skim milk yogurt powder. In Germany and Austria it is sold as Milka Joghurt, described on the pack as Alpine milk chocolate filled with a skim-milk yogurt cream.

Each square carries its own pocket of cream, so the bar breaks cleanly and stays easy to share.

Milka is a Mondelez International brand. Malincho sells this bar in the USA as an independent retailer.

Taste and serving ideas

How it tastes

The first thing you notice is the familiar mild Milka chocolate. Then the filling comes through: cool, creamy and slightly tangy, a bit like a vanilla yogurt. A touch of citric acid in the recipe gives it that light sour edge, which keeps the bar from feeling heavy.

Ways to enjoy it

This is a good warm-afternoon bar. Try it with iced coffee, fresh strawberries, or a bowl of blueberries.

Kids who find plain chocolate too rich often like the yogurt filling. A square or two also fits nicely in a lunchbox, as long as the day is not too hot.

What makes it different

Many people in Central Europe grew up with this flavor, and it is still one of the more unusual Milka bars to find in the USA. Compared with the Caramel bar it is lighter and less sugary on the tongue. Compared with Raspberry, it trades fruit for a clean, dairy taste.

Snack idea: serve a few squares with sliced strawberries for a quick "strawberries and cream" plate.

Questions and answers

Is Milka Yogurt the same as Milka Joghurt?

Yes. Joghurt is simply the German spelling used on the European pack.

Is there real yogurt in it?

The filling is made with skim milk yogurt powder, about 2.5% of the bar, which gives it a light tang.

Does it contain nuts?

Yes. It contains a small amount of hazelnut paste and may contain traces of other tree nuts and wheat. It also contains milk and soy.

Is it gluten free?

Wheat is not an ingredient, but the label warns it may contain traces of wheat, so it is not suitable for anyone who must avoid gluten.

How many calories are in a serving?

About 115 calories per 3-piece (20g) serving, based on the European label.

How should I store it?

Keep it cool and dry, away from heat and light. The cream filling softens quickly in warm weather.
