About this product

A big, thick slab of classic Milka Alpine milk chocolate, sized for the whole family, a holiday gift box or a weekend of baking.

This is the large-format version of Milka's best-known chocolate. German shops sell it as Milka Alpenmilch 250g, sometimes called a Großtafel (big bar). It holds two and a half times as much chocolate as the standard tablet, in thicker pieces.

Inside is the same plain Alpine milk chocolate as the small bar: no nuts, fillings or crisp pieces, just milk chocolate with at least 33% cocoa solids and a touch of hazelnut paste in the recipe.

Milka belongs to Mondelez International. Malincho sells it in the USA as an independent retailer.

Taste and serving ideas

How it tastes

Sweet, creamy and gentle, with the soft, milky melt Milka is known for. The thicker pieces of the big bar take a moment longer to melt, so the flavor builds slowly instead of all at once.

Made for sharing

One bar breaks into about nine 4-piece portions, so it can go around a table after dinner, fill a candy dish at a party or last a family through a movie night.

The size and the familiar lilac wrapper also make it an easy gift. Add it to a holiday basket, a teacher thank-you or a care package for someone who misses European chocolate.

Baking and dessert ideas

250g is enough for real baking. Chop half the bar into chunks for a batch of cookies or brownies, or melt it gently with a splash of cream for a quick fondue to dip strawberries, bananas and pretzels.

Milk chocolate burns more easily than dark, so melt it slowly over low heat or in short bursts in the microwave, stirring often.

Baking tip: for chocolate chunks that hold their shape, chill the bar for 15 minutes before chopping.
